This is Drayton
Hall in Charleston, South Carolina. Paraphrasing J. Jackson Walter, President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in his Forward to The Elements of Style by Stephen Calloway and Elizabeth Cromley, "this home is the preeminent surviving example of Georgian Palladian architecture in the United States. ....built in 1742, the house has never been restored, it has been preserved....as George McDaniel, the director of Drayton Hall, puts it, his historic site is a 'small postage stamp of history', an intact survivor from a society of the past." Now in the care of the National Trust, this house is so revered that airplanes are not allowed to fly directly overhead, but I was allowed to conduct certain repairs to the windows.
